Dance Introduction

Dance is one of the most fundamental and most ancient means by which to connect to Divinity. Through dance one finds balance between mind, body, and spirit; one realizes one's place as the center between Earth and Sky.  Proper posture allows energy to flow through the body, strengthening the connection and opening the self to a harmonious relationship with the world around us.

For women, belly dance is a sacred art and one of the most ancient forms of dance. Women's bodies are a temple of Divinity, symbolizing the Earth and Her movements. Our place is relished between Earth and Sky, and the center is the belly.  When a woman lets go of poor posture and moves her breathing and her center back to her belly, she opens up her body and soul to reclaim a connection to the Earth to which all women have a right. Open yourself to Spirit!  Let your spirit lead, and your body will listen.  The result is a beautiful, sacred dance that can be done individually or in connection with a group.

Dance Bio:

I have been dancing seriously since 1997 and studying Middle Eastern dance specifically since 2000.  I have studied music since middle school, and found no better medium for emotional expression than through music. I began to explore dance in college and found that through dance, I not only could express my deepest emotions, I could also express my spirituality and connection to Divinity.  I have since explored the art of dance as a means of spiritual connection and expression, and belly dance is a genre that I have found to be the most conducive to this work.
